used by a member of the 506 th PIR ''parachute infantry regiment "
these were used by US Paratroopers in the pre dawn darkness , attached to helmets, drop bags and other equipment during the Normandy D DAY invasion
excellent condition
this was made with a two layer , clear plastic face , the inner layer looks like it shifted when this was assembled ,..leaving a slight misalignment of the inner integral lanyard holes { i have seen this misalignment on every one of these disks that i have handled,.. }
the disk in virtually 'mint' condition
there are no abrasion marks on the face , and no rust , scratches or dings on the metal back
this is as nice as you will ever find ,...
{ that is ,..if you ever find one again }
they were 'charged ' with a flash light while still in the air,.... these things continued to glow for hours after the 'jump'
these just dont come on the market often
this came out of the estate of a D DAY 101 st airborne 506 PIR paratrooper { his name will be supplied to the wining bidder / buyer }
it was in his collection ,until the sale of his property several years ago
dont pass it up - a historic 100% original airborne illumination disk ,there are modern reproductions of these disks , but why buy one of those ,when you can have the real thing !
dont pass it up - a must have for your WWII airborne collection
