As the sticker on its base reads, this lidded jar was made in China for the Midwest grocery store chain Byerly’s. I believe it is vintage but do not know for sure when it was made.


It is a little over 6” tall and weighs 2.7 lbs.


The included printed description (pic 14) reads: “A round covered jar, widely used in old China as an opium or tabacco storage vessel. This one skilfully decorated with fishes in coral, yellow, blue and pale purple. Copied from model

of Chia Ching period, AD 1796-1820, Ching dynasty.”


Condition

Excellent — no chips, cracks, or repairs.
