Big Porcelain figurine White Cupid Putti garden bucket Cherub Gold decor Blue Crown Mark estimated 150-200 years old artwork.
This large porcelain piece is of a White Blanc cherub. . The white figurine figure sits on the ground with a bucket. This unusual piece is very unique, with fine craftsmanship of the detailed accents and lovely facial features.
MAKER; On the bottom is Blue N mark with blue crown seven points.
Handpainted mark on the bottom Crown over the letter "N", the mark looked at first to be the well known Capodimonte mark . However looking closely this blue crown has 7 points on crown, instead of the traditional 5 point crown indicative of Capodimonte. The “N” crown was never trademark protected, so there have been many variations. It could be that this cupid is inspired from a group based on the musician series of engravings by Jacques Callot, and possibly the porcelain figurines attributed to Chevalier Pondeau. It also has some of characteristics of Ernst Bohne and of Guiseppe Gricci.
Condition : item is restored. Mostly the bucket broke, but still you can see cracking line on the cherub’s right knee and left ankle.
Please examine the photos to see all imperfections.
Note: I have removed some of the glue from the surface, left by the former owner. This is a water base glue easy to dilute and reattach for a future restoration.
