  Large Round Plate or Shallow Bowl by Hadeland, Norway. Marked on base. Signed Arne Jon Jutrem. Measures  2" X 17"   Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs.    As found on Wiki:  Arne Jon Jutrem (born  Johansen on  August 2,  1929  in  Aker  , died  on 15 September  2005  in  Jevnaker  ) was a  Norwegian  glass artist, designer and artist known for both their glass with tight and sculpture count characters as well as his paintings, all of which are represented in Norwegian and foreign decorative arts museums and art galleries.

Jutrem was educated at Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry  1946-1950, and received simultaneously painting lessons with Carl von Hanno  . Later studies with Fernand Léger  in Paris from 1952 to 1953 and with Chrix Dahl  1954-1955. [1]  He made his debut as a painter at the Autumn Exhibition  in 1950.

Right after graduation in SHKS he received in 1950 working as a designer at Hadeland Glassworks  , where he collaborated with two other designers: Willy Johansson  and Hermann Bongard  . At the glassworks he drew both tableware and art glass. He was awarded the Nordic design award Lunning Prize  in 1959 for The archaic series of bowls, vases and bottles in clear and gray-green glass with superimposed speckles and stripes in earth tones. [2]  He received a gold medal at the Triennale in Milan  in 1954 for Greenland series of stained glass with bubbles, intended for everyday use. [3]  During the period 1963 to 1966 he was a freelance designer for Holmegaards Glassworks  in Denmark, before he was designer by PLUS  in Fredrikstad. As a freelance industrial designer formga he stamps, books and glass sculptures. He also created a furniture group together with Tormod Alnæs  to the Norwegian branch of the World Exhibition in Montreal in 1967  .

From 1967 to the early 1980s, he worked primarily with painting, among other things, living in Paris from 1968 to 1972. [1]  As a painter emerged he as lyrical abstract, and "in his tribute to creation he seems to have reached the longest in a series of paintings he called Earth and Heaven (1974 to 1975) and in a ten meters long frieze painted directly on the wall in Vang school in Ringerike (1972). " [2]  From 1984 he was again associated Hadeland Glassworks, this time as artistic director. In 1982, he was also employed by the Government Teacher Training College in forming, Oslo  - later Oslo University College  , where he was senior lecturer  and from 1994 professor  of aesthetics  .

Jutrem has exhibited glass "in most countries in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia" and is purchased by the three Norwegian decorative arts museums, Victoria and Albert Museum  , London, Corning Museum of Glass  , New York and the State Department  . [1]  [3]  He has done public commissions at Ski Town Hall, Jevnaker City Hall, the Central Bank in Hammerfest, the Norwegian Trade Council in Oslo and at Organization Internationale de l'Aviation Civile, Montreal. [2]  He was in 1992 awarded the  Jacob Price  from  Norwegian Form  for "outstanding and versatile business that designs, theorist and educator."  [1]  In 1992 he was also appointed a Knight of the 1st class of the Order of St. Olav  for her contribution to arts and crafts movement in Norway.
