This is for a lovely Belgium bronze plaquette medal to commemorate the 'Unknown Soldier' of World War I, 1914-1918. The medal is by A. Bonnetain and on the front it shows a beautiful image of an angel sitting with a girl, presumably a young widow and in the smoke coming from the oil burner, the dead soldier is depicted. This side of the medal reads 'Souvenez Vous which translates to 'Remember You'. The reverse shows the tomb of the unknown soldier flanked by lions and this side reads 'Tous En Un' which is 'All in One'. The medal is dated 1922 and comes in its original box that has its label inside the lid that gives all the information about it. The box also has its label on the outside of the lid that is advertising 'Medailles Dart, Mauquoy & Fils Marche St Jaques 7, Anvers'. The medal and box are in absolute excellent condition with no damage and the medal measures 70mm (2.75") in diameter.
